We had Caitlin's 9 month check up and Brandon's three year check up today. Quite an experience. Brian wasn't able to attend today (the first appointment he's ever missed), so it was me alone with two cranky kids. Both kids had to get flu shots today, Caitlin also got a hemoglobin test, and Brandon had to get a Hep A shot, which is now strongly recommended for toddlers. Needless to say there was a lot (emphasis on a lot) of crying at the doctors office. Brandon got a lollipop and a sticker, which eased the pain a little bit. I'm sure he would have traded both of those for no shots in a heartbeat! I told him how brave he was, and he got to sample treats at Costco afterwards. I think he believed the part about bravery, as he talked about it in the car for a while.
Here are the stats on both kids:
Brandon weighs in at 31 pounds (fully clothed), and 38 1/2 inches tall. He's a little on the small side, but the doctor said he is proportionate. He is in the 65th percentile for height and 35th for weight.
Caitlin weighs in at 20 pounds, 8 ounces (Brandon's weight at one year), and is 29 inches long. She is in the 75th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight. I keep thinking she's heavy, since she is so much bigger than Brandon was at the same age, but I guess she's very normal. Brandon, at 9 months was 17 lbs, 10 oz, and 29 1/4 inches tall (5th percentile for weight, and 75th for height).
